Abstract
A detergent pyrrolnitrin solution was administered twice a day for 10-15 days in a series of 50 patients with tinea versicolor. Fluorescence and microscope studies carried out throughout the period of treatment, coupled with assessment of the clinical picture, showed the solution to have been successful in 62% of cases. The results were best when the infection was of less than 1 yr's standing. Side effects were not observed. This fact is of significance when it is remembered that this form of infection necessarily requires protracted treatment, and that large areas of the skin were treated.
