Abstract

A simple, rapid and reliable solid phase method of FSH and LH radioimmunoassay has been used in the study of amenorrheic women. High levels with circadian variation of serum FSH and LH have been found in gonadal dysgenesis and in postmenopausal subjects. However, normal or low gonadotropin values were usually found in secondary amenorrhea. Patients with polycystic ovary disease showed elevated LH serum levels. The rapid RIA method also appears useful in monitoring the clomiphene therapy.
