Abstract

Conventional radiological examinations and the CT scan were used to investigate 38 cases of tumors of the cavum trigeminale : 26 epitheliomas, 8 embryonic sarcomas, and 4 other types of tumor. -The CT scan clearly demonstrated intra-orbital (6 cases) and intracranial (6 cases) lateral extensions. The fact that intracranial extension can occur without lesions in the base of the skull (1 case) or without neurological involvement (1 case), and the lack of correlation between the extent of bone destruction in the base of the skull and any intracranial extension, makes a CT scan an essential element in the investigation of all malignant tumors of the cavum trigeminale.
