Time variant analysis of signal averaged electrocardiogram for the evaluation of the effects of antiarrhythmic drugs

Abstract

We propose a new analysis of signal averaged electrocardiogram in the frequency domain to detect the presence of high frequency signals. By interpolating the QRS complex by means of a Tchebytcheff polynomial the time series of residual values between the original signal and the interpolation curve is obtained. The signal is then analyzed by a time variant autoregressive model that allows to obtain a power spectral density in correspondence of ecg residual value and to track the dynamic change in its frequency content. This approach appears capable of providing a new evaluation of signal averaged electrocardiogram in patients with drug induced prolongation of filtered QRS.
