The authors report on the optimal results obtained in the topical therapy of acne vulgaris with a 5% gel of benzoyl peroxide in 200 patients, half of whom had undergone antibiotic therapy by mouth at the same time. They emphasize the excellent tolerability of the preparation and point out the possibility of a combined therapy with retinoic acid, because of the synergism due to the diversity of the therapeutic action of these 2 products.
