Towards an index predicting rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysms

Abstract

A study was done on an index predicting rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysms. The technique allowed to study the aneurysmatic fluid-mechanics by accounting both for the instantaneous fluid forces acting at the wall and effects of the wall motion on the fluid dynamic field. The results showed that the velocity was close to zero at the inner boundary and reached the maximum values towards the center of the aneurysms.
