Abstract

A double-blind controlled study is reported, comparing the effectiveness and tolerability of a combination of indomethacin, caffeine and prochlorperazine (Difmetrè*) with indomethacin alone, in the acute management of migraine (Group A, 30 patients) and "combination" headache (Group B, 30 patients), and in the prophylactic treatment of "week-end" headache (Group C, 30 patients). Data obtained showed that both medications significantly improved the clinical parameters of the different types of headache studied. In particular, Difmetrè showed a faster analgesic activity and a lower incidence of side-effects so that the majority of the patients favoured the combination preparation.
