Current anti neoplastic strategies, including conventional or high doses chemotherapy, Bone Marrow Transplantation of Peripheral Blood Stem Cells infusion, have in many cases increased the overall survival of hematological patients. However a growing number of new therapeutical approaches is being proposed, as the result of the impressive increase of knowledge in the field of molecular and cellular biology. Such novel approaches allowed to overcome the toxicities and increase the effectiveness of conventional therapies, thus extending their application to elderly patients or patients with a low performance status, eventually curing a higher rate of them. In the present article, authors review the current clinical applications for Autologous Bone Marrow Transplantation in the field of high grade non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. A survey of most important alternative biological strategies usually employed in conjunction or alternative with conventional high doses therapies, will be also reported and briefly discussed.
