Since 1974, steroids have been used to treat DMD, and their efficacy has beenproven in several trials, with a prolongation of ambulation in patients. A comparison ofdifferent steroids (Deflazacort, Prednisone) and of their schedule (daily; alternate days;10 days on, 10 days off) is useful since it gives different details of side effects. Therapyshould be individually monitored in patients to minimize the side effects and maximizepatient response.
