N2 - It has been estimated that 5% of GI bleeding episodes are due to bleeding lesions located in the small bowel. The available diagnostic tools allow an indirect (x-ray examinations) or only partial examination (endoscopy). Recent studies show that capsule enteroscopy allows a direct evaluation of the entire small bowel and moreover has a diagnostic yield superior to traditional imaging techniques.
