Abstract

Type 1 diabetes mellitus is a disease with a very heterogeneous origin, and this is particularly true in the first year of life. In fact when diabetes appears so early, differential diagnosis is between transient, permanent and early onset type 1 diabetes, all of which with different pathogenesis and prognosis. This review will analyse the matter starting from the wealth of new and important findings recently published.
