Abstract

We analyzed the usefulness of video-EEG monitoring in 15 children (7 males, 8 females; mean age 9,8 years) with Idiopathic Occipital Epilepsy (IOE). In addition to standard stimulations (hyperventilation and ILS), specific stimuli (Pattern, TV, etc.) were used according to the clinical history of patients. An overall number of 16 partial seizures with clinical signs (14 with minimal motor signs, 2 staring eyes) were recorded in 12 cases (80%), Seizures that were not previously reported were recorded in 5 cases (33%). Subjective ictal symptoms were reported in two patients (headache, peri-ocular paresthesias).
