Abstract
Investigations Investiations were carried out in different groups of healthy, hypoxic, hydrocephalic, hypoglycemic and hypocalcemic infants, ranging in age between 32 weeks of conception and 1 year, by visual evoked responses. Responses of full-term newborns consisted of a positive wave at 110-180 ms of latency, a second negative wave at 200-230 ms, and a third positive at 250-350 ms. In hypoxic subject responses had increased latencies in relation to extent of disease. The longest latencies were found in hypertensive hydrocephalic subjects, in contrast to non hypertensive hydrocephalic infants. Hypoglycemic and hypocalcemic infants further were tested during disease and at the clinical remission.
